WHAT IS SAPPHO'S GROVE?
We are a LGBTQ+ inclusive nature-based spiritual community in Bellingham, WA founded in September 2021. We have members who walk a variety of spiritual paths, including Agnosticism, Buddhism, Druidry, Wicca, and beyond. Though our Priestex has received coven-based training in a British Traditional Wicca-derived tradition, they have also studied broad applications of Pagan theology via Cherry Hill Seminary, are in the deaconry training program through Sacred Well Congregation, and attend a local seminary-style program, Circle of Noisy Water. Our rituals do not always follow the format of a specific tradition and we encourage exploration and discussion. We are passionate about making queer- and trans-focused magick together, regardless of our individually held beliefs. Solar and lunar cycles are celebrated in person during the Wiccan/Druidic Sabbats, the Full Moon, and the New Moon. While this group is organized by and for the queer community, it is also open to people who are cisgender and/or heterosexual. This enables people to join who may be closeted, who may be questioning, or who may want to learn how to become a better ally to their friend, partner, or family member. Having a queer-focused space that enables all people to learn about the queer experience is the ultimate goal of Sappho’s Grove.
CODE OF ETHICS
Here in the Grove, all bodies are welcome. We treat others with compassion. We will be honest with our words and actions. We will cultivate a consensual relationship with the earth and with all spiritual beings around us. We will put forth positivity and seek not to harm others. We will remain open minded, will maintain a growth mindset, and will strive to learn and evolve. We will not diminish our value to please others, and we will not let others diminish another’s value. We will stand up for injustice and work to create a gentle world. We will remain committed to keep this space free from prejudice. We will be true in our devotion to our spiritual practices and spiritual guides, may they be rock and tree or deity. So mote it be!
